James Murphy’s pioneering New York dance-punk outfit LCD Soundsystem is one of the most beloved bands of the modern era. A product of New York's underground club scene, they had already reached indie elite status with their first single "Losing My Edge" in 2002 long before the release of their eponymous debut album almost 3 years later. The band’s boundless influences — from acid house, disco and Krautrock to post-punk, garage rock and psychedelia - and Maestro Murphy's meticulous oversight, has given them the rare ability to create irresistible, hedonistic dancefloor anthems that still sound as fresh today as when they were first released, 15 years ago, steadily building a massive cult following.
For so many of us, LCD is all about the now legendary live performances and "go another night, alright", their finely tuned, simple, repetitive mantras, the perfect soundtrack to keep the party going.
